Industrial property information  

In 2024, the disclosure of industrial property information continued to be maintained stably. IP Viet Nam completed 12 issues of the Industrial Property Official Gazette, uploaded them to the Portal and archived at the Library to serve the public in need. 

From January 1, 2024, IP Viet Nam applied to the International Patent Classification (IPC) version 2024.01 and the International Classification of Goods and Services (according to the Nice Agreement) version 12 - 2024. These versions took effect in Viet Nam at the same time the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) declared the validity, therefore promptly serving the bling of patent and trademark applications to be consistent with the latest classification. 

The task on Viet Nam’s industrial property statistics was completed on time to send to WIPO and to provide to MOST (for the purpose of implementing the statistical reporting regime of science and technology sector as well as serving the development of the MOST White Paper on science and technology). The statistics of provincial industrial property applications and protection certificates were also conducted and published to the Portal for convenient access by organizations and individuals. Additionally, the Office regularly provides information and data to support the development of the Global Innovation Index and the Viet Nam Provincial Innovation Index. 

IP Vietnam provides monthly 5-day training classes on patents, industrial designs, trademarks registration procedures and information search. Information about these training classes is opened on the Portal for the public to freely register and attend in both online and on-site formats. 

In 2024, the Industrial Property Information Center (IP Viet Nam) organized 04 internship courses to provide IP general knowledge, industrial property information search skills and patent description drafting skills for hundreds of university students. 

Information technology application, digital transformation, and administrative procedure reform  

The application of information technology and digital transformation in the field of intellectual property continues to be promoted by the IP Viet Nam through the pilot deployment of the online public service software, document digitization, and upgrades to the search system infrastructure. Simultaneously, the Office actively reforms administrative procedures, updates electronic processes, and implements data sharing with international organizations, gradually modernizing industrial property management. 

Information infrastructure systems including computer systems, servers, network equipment, search softwares, electronic databases are maintained at a sufficient level for IP Viet Nam tasks. IP Viet Nam has put into trial operation the full-process online public service software and is perfecting the software to pilot test with the remaining administrative procedures. 

IP Viet Nam actively implemented programs to exchange and share Viet Nam’s industrial property data with international partners (ASEAN, WIPO, EUIPO, EPO, etc.) and officially switched to use the WIPOPUBLISH platform to serve needs of examiners and society, etc. 

Upon the request of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Science and Technology on reviewing and evaluating administrative procedures and digital transformation, IP Viet Nam has implemented the publication of administrative procedures, established one-stop shop mechanism, developed electronic processes for administrative procedures, and reported the results of procedure reforms and reduction of business conditions. 

IP Viet Nam has fulfilled development and publication of newly promulgated, amended, supplemented and abolished administrative procedures in accordance with Decree No. 65/2023/ND-CP and Circular No. 23/2023/TT-BKHCN guiding the implementation of the Intellectual Property Law. 

In 2024, the Office digitized approximately 100,000 documents resulting from administrative procedure resolutions, sending them to applicants (via email) while simultaneously updating them to the WIPO IPAS System, the National Public Service Portal, and shared databases.
