From January 1, 2025, Vietnamese version of the International patent classification 2025.01 (IPC 2025.01), translated by IP Viet Nam from the English version published by WIPO, will be applied to the classification of technical solutions for invention registrations. 
On August 23, 2023, Vietnam Government promulgated Decree No. 65/2023/ND-CP detailing several articles and the implementation of the Intellectual Property Law 2022 regarding industrial property rights, protection of industrial property rights, rights to plant varieties, and state management of intellectual property. According to the provisions in Appendix I - Part II of Decree No. 65, from January 1, 2025, in the section "International patent classification", the applicant must classify in accordance with the International patent classification under the Strasbourg Agreement version 2025.01. This includes the full classification, covering sections, classes, subclasses, groups (main groups or subgroups). Applicants who do not classify the technical solutions correctly in accordance with the Vietnamese version of the IPC 2025.01 will have their goods and services reclassified by IP Viet Nam and have to pay additional fees according to the regulations.
Any matter arising during implementation of the IPC 2025.01 should be promptly informed to IP Viet Nam for resolution./.
