With permission given by leadership of the Intellectual Property Office of Viet Nam (IP Viet Nam) and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of Nghe An Province, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of IP Viet Nam, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Nghe An’s DOST, to organize the Workshop on Creating and Developing intellectual property assets in enterprises - startups at the headquarters of Nghe An’s DOST on March 23, 2019. This is one activity in the series of events to celebrate the World Intellectual Property Day, April 26, 2019 and  the 88th anniversary of founding of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2019).
The Workshop had the honor to welcome distinguished guests from Nghe An’s DOST: Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Director General of the Department; Mr. Pham Hong Hai, Director of Science and Technology Management Division and numerous related officers and experts. It also had the honor to welcome distinguished guests from the IP Viet Nam: Mr. Le Tat Chien, Deputy Director, IP Training and Consultation Center; Mr. Hoang Anh, Official, Legislation and Policy Division - Secretary of the Youth Union, and several related officers. Participants who attended the Workshop, were representatives of several related departments, agencies of Nghe An Province; local enterprises, Nghe An’s newspaper, Nghe An’s radio and television station, etc.

With objective to improve awareness on role and value of IP assets in enterprises, and encouraging activities of establishment, promotion, development and benefit exploitation from IP assets in Nghe An province, presentations of the Workshop focused on: Intellectual property rights - competitive advantages and development motivation of enterprises; IP Management and commercialization in enterprises; and Activities to support intellectual property development for local businesses”. In addition, at the Workshop, participants also had discussions about procedures of establishment of IP rights, especially trademarks, patents, and experiences of development of intellectual property assets in enterprises.

In the speech delivered at the Workshop, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Deputy Director General of Nghe An’s Department of Science and Technology emphasized that in the current trend of integration and development, intellectual property rights and intellectual property assets have played not only important roles in enterprises but also key factors in creation and development of enterprises’ brands. These subject-matters have been considered as the initial and important factors in strategies of penetration and expansion of market as well as sustainable development, etc. Therefore, such required an effective mechanism of promotion and protection of intellectual property rights.
The Workshop provided an opportunity to local government officers, enterprises and individuals to raise awareness in the creation and development of intellectual property assets in order to create competitive advantages and promote local socio-economic development, locally and nationally.
