 A high ranking delegation of the State Intellectual Property Office of P. R. China headed by Mr. Gan Shaoning, Deputy Commissioner, paid an official working visit to Vietnam from 12 to 15 September 2010. 

The delegation had talks with NOIP’s Director General Tran Viet Hung and some of his key staff to share information and experiences in the management of the IP system, IPR enforcement and especially, the protection of traditional knowledge and genetic resources. DG Hung introduced the delegation about the process of establishing and completing IP legislation system, activities of IPRs administration and enforcement agencies. He also shared with SIPO’s delegation about his assessment and thought about the operation of the Vietnamese IP system. DDG Pham Phi Anh followed the introduction by some information about the regulations relating to genetic resources and traditional knowledge protection, particularly its mechanism of benefit sharing. Discussing with NOIP’s leaders, SIPO’s Deputy Commissioner Gan Shaoning expressed SIPO’s interest in the improvement of the effectiveness of Vietnam’s IP system, and then, made various questions for more comprehensive understanding about it. The talk took place in an open, friendly atmosphere and productive manner. 

On this occasion, the SIPO delegation also visited and had talks with Chief Inspector of Science and Technology Tran Minh Dung on the implementation of IPRs enforcement activities in Viet Nam.
