"The Review Conference on Innovative Activities of Joint Venture Vietsovpetro in the period of 2001- 2010” was held in Vung Tau city on 1st July 2011. The Conference was to review and evaluate innovative activities and to launch the competing compaign “Promoting innovative activities in the period of 2011 - 2013”. The NOIP delegation led by Deputy Director General, Mr. Hoang Van Tan attended the Conference. 

There are more than 100 delegates from Petrovietnam Oil and Gas Group, member companies of Joint Venture Vietsovpetro, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, The Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, Union of Science and Technology Associations of Ba Ria – Vung Tau and representatives from local mass media participating at the Conference.

According to the statistics of the Organizer, 713 innovation applications of Vietsovpetro have been examined, in which 591 technical solutions accounting for 82,9 percentages have been recognized as innovations. Vietsovpetro has applied 393 innovations and 152 of those have brought about total revenue of 11.954.240 USD in the first year of application with an average of 78.646 USD per innovation. Vietsovpetro rewarded and gave bonus for those who participated in research, development and application of 393 innovations into practices for the first year with the total amount of 544.966 USD. 

In addition, Vietsovpetro has 4 patents, especially the patent No. 4580 granted on 04 October 2004 for the “Method and equipment to identify the leaking position of underground gas pipelines in the sea or under water” with the economic benefit of 196.667 USD after being put into practice. 

Those mentioned-above statistics have shown that innovative activities at Vietsovpetro in the period of 2001 - 2010 have achieved many good results. Such innovative activities have been carried out regularly and continuously and strictly conformed to its Regulation, and the results, apart from bringing about many essential economic benefits to Vietsovpetro, have contributed to solve difficulties in the course of production. 

At the Conference, on behalf of NOIP Leadership, Deputy Director General, Mr. Hoang Van Tan highly appreciated Vietsovpetro’s achievements in innovative activities and drawn out a number of valuable lessons from those activities. Besides, Mr. Hoang Van Tan also introduced the main contents of the draft Decree on Innovation submitted to the Government by the Ministry of Science and Technology for approval.
